We are currently not accepting applications

The Melbourne Global Shapers Hub is currently not open for applications. Please follow us on Facebook @globalshapersmelbourne to stay up to date on our work and next round of recruitment.

Note that this page is only a reference to what our typical recruitment round entails.

Being a Global Shaper gives you the opportunity to access an incredible global network of peers, to connect with others in Melbourne to make a difference through local projects and events, and the opportunity to represent youth at World Economic Forum and Global Shapers Community events.

We recognise the importance of diversity in all its forms and value fresh ideas and perspectives. We encourage people from all walks of life to apply regardless of educational background, professional experience or otherwise – you have something unique to offer. We believe lived experience is just as important as all other forms of experience. If you have bold ideas, a passion for social change and a drive to make the world better, we want to hear from you.

Please read the application details below and, if you are ready to take the next step, complete the form at the bottom of this page.

You must be between the ages of 20 – 29 (inclusive) to apply.

Becoming a Global Shaper entails a genuine commitment of your time and energy. Shapers are expected to attend a minimum of 75% of monthly meetings throughout the year and hold one or more project roles. Successful applicants will undertake a three month probation period.

Step 2: Join ‘Meet the Shapers’ Facebook live Q&A

Drop in to our online information session on Monday 22nd October 5:30pm to hear more about what we’re working on and have the opportunity to ask us questions about the application process, projects or the global community. Details are on our Facebook page.

Step 3: Interview

The interview stage involves a conversation with two current Shapers. This will be arranged at a mutually agreeable time and place and will likely involve a series of discussions included but not limited to:

  • Your motivations for joining the Hub.
  • Skills and value you can bring to the Hub.
  • Interests and life experiences
  • Understanding of what being a Global Shaper and Melbourne Hub member entails.

Candidates who are successful in the interview stage are welcomed to the Melbourne Hub to begin their three month probation period. During this time there will be a welcome induction half-day. It is a requirement for all new members to attend the induction.

Upon successful completion of the probation period, your profile is submitted to the World Economic Forum for validation as a Global Shaper.
